SMARTRISK No Regrets Live wins award

October 26, 2011

The Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario has honoured the SMARTRISK No Regrets Live program with a 2011 “Let’s Keep Kids Out of Hospital” award for shows it performed in the Ottawa region. CHEO recognizes those who contribute to the community and help make a difference in the lives of children and youth. Laureen Harper, wife of Prime Minister Stephen Harper, was on hand for the Oct. 19, 2011 ceremonies.

In the letter announcing SMARTRISK had won in the injury prevention category, CHEO said, “Your initiative was singled out by our external Selection Committee as being over and above other activities in the community addressing Injury Prevention.”

SMARTRISK is very pleased to accept an award that recognizes its youth programming is helping to keep kids out of hospital. We also agree with CHEO’s opinion as stated on its website, “Preventing illness and injuries is a far better prescription for health and well-being than having to treat them.”
